“Five star Four Seasons”

This is surely as near perfect as a B&B can get. The relaxed manner of owners Steve & Bernice is exceptional without being intrusive. From booking to saying goodbye they were the height of warmth and efficiency - personal service at its best.
The whole place is spotless, cosy and well-appointed, even a good wi-fi connection is included in the price. The late 19th century property is in a quiet, tree-lined cul-de-sac just 10 minutes' easy walk from the Minster.
Even the breakfast is 'clean'; gleaming white crockery, linen tablecloths and freshly-cooked local food.
This is so good it could perhaps be a training establishment for the Hotel trade. Many industry professionals would benefit from seeing what is possible in terms of standards.
It's easy to see why Steve and Bernice have won and maintained their 5-star rating for the Four Seasons. We unreservedly recommend this as a place to stay in York. |

| “Great place near the city centre”
|
We stayed at the Four Seasons for a weekend in February. It is pretty close to the city centre, and to the train station - the quickest way to the station is across a footbridge which is part of a railway bridge. However, finding it by following the roads is pretty straightforward.
It's a great place to stay with really friendly, helpful hosts and great food. The ground floor room that we had was pretty big, with a great bathroom and a really good-sized shower.
All in all, thoroughly recommended. |

“Wonderful in every respect - warm welcome, delightful room, amazing breakfasts”

| We are from Thailand and stayed 2 nights at Four Seasons during early May and wished we had longer to take in all the attractions of York. This was my Thai wife’s 4th visit to the UK having stayed in several B&Bs previously and she says that the Four Seasons is without doubt the best B&B that she has ever stayed in. I would further add that the couple (Bernice & Steve) running this establishment are the nicest and friendliest people you could ever meet who made us most welcome from the moment we arrived until checking out. The booking was hassle free, the breakfast was excellent and the rooms spotlessly clean with plenty of amenities. The B&B is located in a quiet road and convenient to get to York centre which is about a 10 minute walk away and also convenient enough to walk to the train station about 15 minutes away. All in all I would definitely recommend this B&B. |

We stumbled over the Four Seasons on Trip Advisor after our previous hotel had let us down and we needed to re-book leaving the same day. Lucklily I called the Four Seasons and spoke to Steve and I'm very glad I did. He gave me directions over the phone from the South and the hotel was really easy to find, just off the main road into a small quiet cul-de-sac. As others have said from the moment we arrived and were greeted by Steve and Bernice nothing was too much trouble, we had a lovely and very welcome coffee on arrival and could take our pick of brochures about things to do in York. When we went upstairs we had the lilac room over looking the front garden (with York Minster in the distance) which was well decorated and absolutley spotless. The beds are some of the comfiest ever! Breakfast the following morning was delicous, we'd pre-ordered our fry up but there was also cereals, yoghurts etc (and the best fruit salad) all served with a smile. York is a beautiful place with loads of things to see and do and I can't wait to go back - We'll definatley be staying with Steve and Bernice again and would recommend it to anyone. |

My son and I stayed at the Four Seasons for four nights in January. It was our first visit to York and our choice of accommodation couldn't have been better. Steve and Bernice are the perfect hosts. Attentive and kind, they went out of their way to make my teenage son feel at home. The breakfasts are splendid (porridge highly recommended).
Our room was large and comfortable, with lovely mauve fabrics, and a peaceful view across the street in front of the house (which is a solid and beautiful Victorian brick home). St Peter's Grove is a cul de sac so there was no traffic noise.
The old section of York is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the hotel through Bootham Bar and there is a Sainsbury's supermarket on the way. The railway station is slightly further but not more than 20-25 minutes walk or a five minute trip by taxi. It's very easy to find your way around and maps and information were available at the hotel. The tourist information office is near Bootham Bar.
York is fabulous. We visited - and loved - the Minster, the Castle Museum, and the National Railway Museum. An evening ghost tour was fun (though cold work in mid-January!). Shopping was excellent. Try Little Betty's in Stonegate for a traditional (though quite expensive) high tea. We hope to return before too long and will certainly stay with Steve and Bernice when we do.
* Liked — The kindness of the hosts, the breakfasts, the room....
* Disliked — Disliked nothing |

This place used to be a schoolhouse, but was converted to a B&B in an idyllic setting, on a quiet street with trees and a very nice garden to boot.
Cleanliness:
The place was immaculate, with every care taken to meet the expectations of even the most picky traveler.
Amenities:
Steve and Bernice allowed us to use the largest room in the place since we had a toddler with us. The room was very large. The bathroom looked brand new, and had a brand new towel warmer. The shower looked new also. There is even a fridge they let us use in the hallway.
Hosts:
Steve and Bernice are incredibly nice and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we walked in the door.
Food:
The breakfast was wonderful, and they even offered to cook a breakfast for our toddler. You have the choice of a traditional english breakfast or a la carte selections (eggs, toast, sausage, etc) they also have a selection of cereals and yogurts and fresh fruit salad, as well as juices. |

When we arrived in York, Steve and Bernice were welcoming us outside the hotel. We got the warmest and best service from the moment we arrived until we left two days later. When walking inside, it was like entering a mansion and the room was spacious and with a lovely interior. Outside is a small garden and the B&B is located in a quiet area, 10 mins walking from the old town of York.
In the morning we got a very good breakfast. If i should have a wish: I would have loved a breakfast time which lasted for one hour longer.... But I understand that this isn't too easy for a small B&B. "Four Seasons" can be recomended. It's quite another world than an unpersonal (and more expensive) bigger hotel. Everything about the B&B is lovely, but the best aspect is the hosts!
* Liked — The hosts and the beautiful interior. |

" Best B & B Eve r"

| My husband and I visited York to celebrate my birthday on 10 January. We were absolutely delighted with our choice of accommodation. First of all Bernice and Steve - thank you so much for making us feel so welcome in your beautiful home. The room was stunningly decorated and all the bedlinen, towels etc were of the highest quality. Bernice's attention to detail is second to none. There were so many little extras in the room that we didn't expect. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious and again lovely little touches like wee cute dishes of jam and sparkling tablelinen. The location is perfect too - just a 10 minute walk from town. To sum up, the service, food, decor and quality of this small hotel is five star. We highly recommend it and look forward to returning on our next visit to York. |

| Breakfast was vast and really tasty and the walk into town was only a few minutes. There is off-street, safe parking and the neighbourhood seems very nice. We cannot recommend this place enough and if we are ever in need of somewhere to stay in York again we would only want to stay here.Well done Steve & Bernice, hope to see you again one day soon! |

We visited the Four Seasons in York for the first time last month and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was lovely and much enjoyed whilst the owners are friendly and helpful. The Four Seasons is also ideally located for walking into the city centre. It is an excellent all-round place to stay. |

| we have just had a wonderful weekend at the four seasons. Bernice & Steve were as always welcoming. It is like home from home for us,we would,nt want to stay anywhere else in York. The rooms are spotless, and breakfast is delicious. The hotel is only a short walk from the Minster, shops, cafes etc,it has a large off road car park so our car stayed there all the time. The rooms are all tastfully decorated as is the lounge and breakfast room.We paid £150 for two nights (2 people),excellent value. Can't wait for next years weekend! |

Wonderful stay with a terrific couple. Just returned yesterday from my first stay with Steve and Bernie and I would highly recommend the Four Seasons. I reiterate all that has been said in previous reviews about the great welcome you receive, the ambience of rooms, the very extensive breakfast choice and the location. It was my first time to York and I would not dream of staying any where else other than the Four Seasons when I return again hopefully in the not too distant future. Well done Steve and Bernie - you have created a little gem. |

My husband and I have lost count of the number of times we have stayed with Steve and Bernie at their beautiful hotel. I "plucked" this hotel from a list on the web way back about 6 or 7 years ago, and so glad we chose this one. We stay a weekend in September each year, and have been known to go down again mid year with any oversea visitors we have had staying with us.
Congratulations once again Steve and Bernie on gaining a 5* rating, so well deserved. |

My fiancee and I stayed at this wonderful guesthouse on a 3 day city break in August. Steve and Bernice are fantastic hosts, they made us feel like we were family friends staying for a few days, rather than simply paying guests. From the moment we arrived until our departure nothing was too much trouble. The room we stayed in was clean, bright and spacious, and the breakfasts were amazing. We will definitely be staying here on our next visit to York. |

| When thinking of York the immediate choice for a perfect stay is the hotel run by Steve and Bernice. I went there alone for my first visit and they made me SO welcome - I was attending a wedding. I had to return the following year with my husband for him to experience the breakfasts, cleanliness and general ambiance of the Four Seasons - to say nothing of the wonderful garden and hanging baskets. Flowers everywhere. The best little hotel to thoroughly spoil you! And well within walking distance for all of York's historical venues. Thank you, Steve and Bernie! |

We would confirm the previous great reports of this B&B. The room we had was spacious with seating area. Flat screen TV and tea/coffee facilities. The whole place was clean, which is important to us. The breakfast was exceptional and very well cooked. The location is great with ample parking and only a 10 minute walk to York wall. Well recommended. |
